A leading writer on non-profits recently
noted that the three main problems facing the non-profit
community:
(1) the difficulty of 'scaling up' successful
local solutions into large-scale programs;
(2) the lack of a means to prioritize goals
and organize disparate programs; and
(3) the cultural divide between the
non-profit and for-profit communities.
We are a non-profit, non-partisan
organization dedicated to the idea that we can dramatically improve
the way our democracy works by combining classical democratic
ideals and modern free-market methods to create a freer, fairer,
and more efficient democratic process, in which social values and
market incentives are merged to create new kinds of public agencies
that will transform the way we define and create public
goods.
As detailed below, the new system we propose
will solve each of these three problems, by redefining the context
in which non-profits operate. The only losers in this process
will be the major political parties as they now
exist.
